Aim: The study was performed to determine what motivation instruments nurses give importance in a university hospital and another one depending on the Ministry of Health.
Method: The study was included 202 nurses selected each department and shift from university and state hospital. Data were obtained using a questionnaire related socio-demographic features and working conditions of the participants and The Questionnaire of the Significance of Motivation Instruments.
Results: While the most significant motivation instruments nurses give importance are “job assurance”, “social security” and “appreciated by employers”, it was observed that the least three significant motivation instruments given importance by nurses are “working in a field where there is competence”, “given importance to the activities of the unions by the company” and “the existence of common points with other employees out of the work”.
Conclusion: By using the instruments such as the determinations of job insurance and appreciated by employers, it was considered that working motivation of nurses may be increased.
