Disaster management takes places among tasks of Community Health Centers; however there is not enough information about scope of duties and responsibilities of nurses in disaster management. Public health nurses have comprehensive information about general structure of the society and health status, program planning, community assessment and specialist in group dynamics so they have a key role in disaster management. Concept of public health nursing issued for nurses who work in community health-based organizations in this article. It is important knowing responsibilities of public health nurses for participating actively in disaster management. In this paper the current situation in the country is reviewed in line with research on disaster preparedness, public health nurses’ roles and responsibilities in disaster management is explained as preparedness, response and recovery phases.
