Aim: This study was conducted to examine the secondary preventive attıtudes of the patients wıth myocard infarction.
Method: The data were collected in a state hospital and a university hospital, between February 2004 to May 2004. The sample of study was consisted of 92 inpatients and outpatients wıth myocard infarction who admitted to participate the study, survived at home at least for one month subsequent to the MI episode. The data of the study was collected one by one interview by using the questionnaire form (30 questions). The results of the study were presented as values and percents and chi-square test was used in analysis.
Results: It is determined that the study revelaed that among the patients, 52.2 %is obese, 54.3%quitted smoking, 42.4 %admits for examination whenever he/she feels discomfort, 53.3 %get angry under stressful conditions, 40.2 %never exercise, 73.9 %takes the sublingual whenever he/she feels chest pain and then admit to medical attention if the pain does not resolve, 42.4 %never eat red meat, 85.9 %never consume solid oil and 92.4 %consume daily fresh vegetables and fruits. Relevant to the patients enrolled in the study, there is asignificant difference between gender and exercise status, between age groups and body mass index as well as education status and compatiblity with control visits.
Conclusion: At the end of the study, it is concluded that some of the secondary preventive attitudes of the patients were not adequate and that they need training and monitorisation on this issue.
