The Evaluation of Vaccination Pratice of Midwives and Nurses Working in Primary Health Care Center and Maternal/Child Health and Family Planing Center in Diyarbakir City Center

Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the vaccination pratice of midwives and nurses in primary health setting in Diyarbakir city center.

Method: 80 of 346 midwıves or nurses were observed during their vaccination practice by using a checklist in 35 different primary health setting. Midwivesor nurses performance on cold chain, vaccination record, vaccination couselling, enjection safety were evaluated. Frequency distrubition of their performance was shown in the tabulates.

Results: Regarding cold chain it was observed that 98.8% of midwivesor nurses got vaccine from refregirator properly, 85.0% of them prevent the contact vaccine with ice box, 82.5% of them keep vaccine transver box uncontaminated. According to eveluation of vaccine records. All of the nurses found the infants records in Form 012 and recorded the applied vaccine in Form 012. On the vaccine counselling subject only 25.0% of the nurses or midwives gave information about which vaccine was applied, 48.8% of them gave information about vaccine adverse effects and 3.8% of them gave mother oppurtunity to ask question. About enjection safety 27.5% of the nurses or midwives touched the top of vaccine flacon, 35.0% of them didn’t write the open time of vaccine flacon.

Conclusion: Particularly on the manner of vaccine counselling midwives and nurses were unsufficient and need education program. Enjection safety which may result seconder enfections should also be include the education programe
