Labor is an important period which biological, physical, emotional and social changes are seen to correspond into motherhood. Due to these changes the women in the maternity period feels the need to be supported and cared for. Nurses and midwifes who support the women in their intrapartum period can provide a comfortable and healthy birth and contribute in the progress of the mothers and baby’s health by giving them a complete nursing combined with support. In this study it is aimed to consider the knowledge of the role of the nurse/midwife and supportive care towards this period seen in literature.
